About

Who we are

The Georgia Farm & Food Initiative belongs to the people building it: farmers, partner organizations, and community members across the state. It began in 2025 with farmer focus groups and conversations across the Southeast, then grew through regional listening sessions in Atlanta, Athens, Albany, and Savannah between November 2025 and September 2026. In those sessions, people doing the work named the priorities that now guide the network. Members set the direction, carry the work forward in their regions, and decide what comes next. Emory University's FACES Research Group, led by Emily Burchfield, helped launch the effort and supports it with coordination and research. Kate Munden-Dixon coordinates the network with support from The Organic Center, and Carrie Furman co-facilitated the listening sessions.
